Amid the economic gloom of current weeks there is at least some good news. This is today's release of new analysis that for the first three months of 2020 renewables became Britain's main power source for the first time ever. This is a big moment.
The figures were helped by the high winds (which caused my ferry to Jersey to be cancelled but were good for windfarms) and the recent sunny weather and drop off in demand. However, this is clear evidence that we are going in the right direction. Our client Anesco's recently completed 12MW Bumpers solar park and the recent announcements of CfD support for solar and onshore wind are also good news stories.
Let's hope that we can celebrate more of these milestones in the months to come.
