Employee confidence that their workplace is safe will be critical for businesses hoping for a smooth return to work in the following days and weeks. On Monday 11 May, the Government issued a suite of guidelines to help businesses reopen safely. The guidelines have been categorised by working environment as opposed to sector so some businesses may need to follow more than one set of guidelines. The guidelines cover a range measures including on maintaining social distancing and enhanced cleaning regimes. Employers will also need to carry out COVID-19 risk assessments in consultation with workers or trade unions. In a move welcomed by trade unions, if you employ 50 or more employees you will also be expected to publish this risk assessment on your website.
