The Government has published its response to the Transport Select Committee’s Fifth Report of Session 2021/22, UK aviation: reform for take-off. This response provides some clarity on key questions being asked by the industry:
- Will the Government introduce an Airline Insolvency Bill following the Airline Insolvency Review?
- How will Jet Zero be achieved?
- How is the Government working with the Civil Aviation Authority to ensure consumers have the protections they need?
- Should the Civil Aviation Authority have additional powers?
The aviation sector (airlines, airports and related services) has been hit incredibly hard by the Covid-19 pandemic and has benefitted from c. £8billion of Government support. We look forward to working with clients to contribute to the Government's Flightpath to the future in order to drive forward a successful recovery.
As the aviation sector recovers from the pandemic, the Government is committed to working in partnership with all aspects of industry to support growth and drive forward a successful recovery to pre-pandemic levels of demand and profitability.
