Last April, I reported that the Secretary of State had decided not to call in the planning application for YTL Arena Bristol, which was approved by Bristol City Council’s planning committee in March 2020.
I am now pleased to confirm that the Arena planning permission and 3 associated consents were issued on 29 April 2021, after a very focused year of negotiations with South Gloucestershire Council and Bristol City Council on the Arena s106 and associated agreements. The 6 week judicial review period expired on 10 June 2021 without any challenges being brought, which is a huge milestone for YTL Arena Bristol and the leisure and entertainment sector in the South West.
We continue to work with YTL on the implementation of the adjoining Brabazon masterplan, with phase 1 works in progress and the first new houses occupied.
More than £3.1m will be invested into improvements to the local transport infrastructure in North Bristol and South Gloucestershire as part of the plans for YTL Arena Complex
